Do You Know A Good Accountant?

You ever go to a business lunch, conference, or meet and greet social and get this question? I never got this question or asked any one this question till I started my own business.

I recently went to a small business entrepreneur happy hour in Austin and found myself asking this questions after finding that managing the money side of my business was taxing and took me away from my business' needs. I get off one day a week and I don't want to spend that one day doing paper work. So I decided to ask the question, "Do you know a good certified public accountant?"

On a side note it was nice to be around entrepreneurs and the talk not be all about mergers and acquisitions and stock portfolios. But I did get the name of two consulting businesses, an independent certified public accountant and a firm PS&CO that handles taxes, business accounting, business planning and advising, and other consulting services.

Accounting Concept To Know...'The Bottom Line'

' The bottom line'

The bottom line is either a profit or a loss. It's often an expression used to describe the end results. It's also used to describe a company's net income. Specifically net income after taxes. Also called net earning, net income, or net profit.

For any business it's important to know whether you are making a profit or a loss. Business financial statements often are documents that help you keep a pulses on the direction your business is going. I found it important for my business to have a CPA based in San Antonio to help me understand my bottom line. This past tax season having a CPA to help me with tax services I desperately needed while running my business in San Antonio was instrumental in me not owing a lot in taxes.

The bottom line was a term I often threw around not really know what it truly meant, especially in regards to the business world. After seeking tax services in San Antonio I have learned so much about my 'bottom line.'

Accounting For My Small Business


When I was just starting out with my business doing the finances and taxes wasn't to difficult. I was able to manage overall and my accounting 101 course as an undergrad helped me. Well fortunately my business has started to grow. Of course this is good but it's also as lot of work.

So I hired a CPA. And that is pretty much all he did was my books. But after attending a business conference in San Antonio I started to learn about other services a CPA/accounting firm could offer. I needed more sound business advise on issues such as taxes and organizational development.

I think with my business' growth it making sense to turn over tax, accounting and other financial chores to an outside San Antonio CPA business specialists. In order to focus on the growth of my business and strong customer services I have to let some things go and I need specialist I can go to as my business grows and as other issues come up.
